The match against Villarreal tonight at El Madridgal marked Sergio Ramos' 300th official appearance with Real Madrid. The defender was signed by the club in the 2005/06 season and is now the second team captain. The only player on the squad with more appearances than Ramos is Iker Casillas.
Ramos' first match was the 3-2 away victory over Celta Vigo on 10 September 2005. He has since showcased great versatility, which allows him to play both as right back or centre back and has assured him a starting position in most games. He played his 100th match for the team on 20 October 2007, scoring their only goal in the 2-1 defeat in Barcelona. His 150th and 200th appearances were against Getafe (November 2008) and Villarreal (February 2010), respectively.

Besides showcasing excellent defensive skills, Ramos has proven to be a solid goal scorer. He has already tallied 36 for Real Madrid, the first coming against Olympiacos on 6 December 2005. He netted his last strike for the team this season in Week 22 of La Liga against Getafe; it was the only goal scored in the game.
